Dr. David Egan
Dr. David Egan is a Senior Research Fellow with the PMTC at the University of Limerick, leading the strategic research theme of Process Control & Optimisation within PMTC.

Beginning with a Degree in Materials Science from Limerick, David undertook his Masters on Non-Proliferation of nuclear materials while working at the EU Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Belgium.
Upon returning to Limerick, David completed his PhD with a study of materials for Planar Transformers for high frequency switch mode power supplies. Following this was a decade in industry working with ultra-hard materials (Diamond & cBN) where during this time David developed many innovative products and processes for use in the stone cutting, mining and exploration industries.
2014 saw David make the move to the PMTC and over the preceding 6 years, during which time he has been awarded over €1.3M in funding to undertake collaborative research focused on pharmaceutical process control and optimization.
David is Inventor / co-Inventor on 21 patents based on his work during this time and Dr. Egan has many published articles and mentored multiple Industrial Masters and PhDs while undertaking his research at the University.
In his spare time, Dr. Egan likes to restore Alfa Romeo cars.
